PUTTING SEL CENTER STAGE
Artistic SEL intentionally embeds life skill development into artistic processes and practices in service of student empowerment to enrich both artistic fluency and human development.
APPROACH
There is not just one way or prescriptive technique to embed SEL into arts education. The Center’s approach guides educators to better understand their practice and their classroom as a rich space for social and emotional growth through the Arts.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES
All of our offerings will help participants:
- Define SEL broadly and translate it for their practice;
- Experience Artistic SEL;
- Reflect upon how Artistic SEL can be embedded in their practice.
Specific learning objectives, depending on the length and depth of engagement, will help learners:
- Develop a stronger understanding and common vocabulary of Artistic SEL;
- Translate SEL for teaching context and learning community;
- Connect to others to develop personal approaches to Artistic SEL in community;
- Create and design intentional Artistic SEL learning experiences and materials as embedded artistic processes and routines that define their arts learning culture;
- Implement and receive feedback from Artistic SEL teaching opportunities;
- Strategize for sustainability and ongoing teacher support.
Engage with our team to co-create a plan that will help identify and achieve the
learning objectives that will address your goals within your schedule and budget.
